Vietnamese food safety authorities have issued an urgent request for Nestlé Vietnam to report on the distribution status of Beba and Alfamino infant formulas. This action follows the manufacturer’s preventive recall of specific batches in the German market on January 6.
International reports indicate that the recall was initiated due to the potential presence of Cereulid, a toxin produced by the bacterium Bacillus cereus, which could pose health risks to infants.
To ensure public safety, authorities have mandated that the company provide detailed statistics regarding imported quantities, sales figures, and remaining inventory of these two product lines. The deadline for submitting this report and proposing a mitigation plan—should the affected batches be found in Vietnam—is January 10.
Furthermore, e-commerce regulatory bodies have been asked to monitor online marketplaces. If any products from the warned batches are identified, online platforms must immediately remove advertisements and suspend all sales activities in accordance with legal regulations.
