Hanoi Medical University to integrate two central hospitals by January 20

Under a recent directive from the Ministry of Health, Central Hospital 71 and the Central Nursing and Rehabilitation Hospital will be formally transferred to Hanoi Medical University. The handover process is scheduled for completion before January 20, 2026, aiming to enhance the integration of clinical training and specialized medical treatment.

Restructuring and Development Strategy Upon completion of the transfer, Hanoi Medical University will restructure these units to improve efficiency and promote institutional autonomy. The proposed developments include:

  • Thanh Hoa Campus (formerly Central Hospital 71): Will focus on high-tech specialties such as cardiology, oncology, pulmonology, surgery, and nephrology-dialysis.

  • Sam Son Campus (formerly the Central Nursing and Rehabilitation Hospital): Will be developed into a specialized center for rehabilitation, traditional medicine, geriatrics, and andrology.

Ensuring Operational Continuity Ministry of Health officials have mandated that all relevant parties expedite the documentation of personnel, finances, infrastructure, and equipment as of year-end 2025. This transition is expected to elevate healthcare services to regional standards while providing a high-quality clinical environment for medical students.
