The Drug Administration of Vietnam has issued a directive to suspend the circulation and recall eight cosmetic items found to contain unauthorized medicinal ingredients. The affected products, ranging from anti-dandruff shampoos to feminine hygiene foams and solutions, have been sourced from several different suppliers.
The recall was triggered by the identification of Miconazole and Miconazole nitrate in the product formulations. These antifungal agents are strictly classified as pharmaceutical active ingredients intended for medical treatment, rather than for use in general cosmetics. This move aligns with safety standards established under the ASEAN Cosmetic Directive, aiming to prevent the risks associated with the prolonged, unregulated use of medicinal substances in daily beauty products.
Authorities have instructed distributors to immediately retrieve these products from all retail channels for disposal. Local health departments are also tasked with monitoring the market and notifying the public to ensure these non-compliant items are no longer sold or used, prioritizing consumer safety and regional regulatory consistency.
