On the morning of January 15, leaders of the Ministry of Health held a working session with senior representatives from the SOS International Asia Office to harmonize plans for restructuring the children’s village system in Vietnam. The meeting focused on finalizing the terms of a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at achieving more synchronized and effective management of social protection facilities for vulnerable children.
According to the agreed roadmap, both parties will proceed with the status-quo transfer of eight children’s villages along with their associated educational systems, including 10 general schools, one vocational school, and 14 kindergartens across various provinces. All current personnel, infrastructure, and nurturing programs will remain stable to ensure no disruption to the children’s welfare. The transfer of the remaining nine facilities is expected to be completed by mid-2026.
During the discussion, the Ministry of Health emphasized that the management restructuring is a necessary step to align with current regulations, while committing to the continuity of all care and education activities. International representatives expressed their support for the coordination principles, highlighting that the ultimate goal remains the comprehensive development and safety of orphans and disadvantaged children in Vietnam.
