Nationwide recall of 77 cosmetic products over missing documentation

Pharmaceutical authorities have issued a strict enforcement action against 77 cosmetic items distributed by a Hanoi-based firm. The large-scale recall was triggered by the company’s failure to maintain transparent technical documentation as required by law.

Compliance failure regarding Product Information Files During an inspection, Ucanrely Co., Ltd. failed to produce Product Information Files (PIF) for the items in question. The PIF is a mandatory technical dossier used to verify safety, efficacy, and quality standards before products reach consumers. While submission is not required at the time of initial notification, businesses are legally obligated to store and present these files immediately upon official request.

Scope of the affected goods The nationwide recall and destruction order covers a wide range of categories, including:

  • Hair and body care: Shampoos, conditioners, body washes, and lotions.

  • Facial care: Sunscreens, cleansers, toners, and moisturizers.

  • Others: Toothpaste and baby care products. Notably, the list includes several widely recognized brands such as Pantene, Hatomugi, Fino, Arau Baby, Softymo, and Rosette.

Tightening market control during peak season The Drug Administration of Vietnam has mandated that all recall reports be completed by January 25. This move is part of an intensified campaign to monitor cosmetic quality as beauty demand surges toward the Lunar New Year. Recently, the agency has also cracked down on numerous cases involving cosmetics containing banned substances or ingredients inconsistent with their original registered formulas.
