International patient volume surges at Gia Dinh People’s Hospital Branch 2

Following its first month of restructured operations, the second campus of Gia Dinh People’s Hospital (formerly Saigon General Hospital) has reported significant growth in patient numbers. Specifically, the facility served 217 international patients during its inaugural month, representing an 88.7% increase compared to December 2025.

The growth trend extends across various departments. Emergency admissions reached 1,014 cases, a 37% rise, while total outpatient visits climbed to 14,304, up 35% year-on-year. Furthermore, international visits for specialized medical examinations and treatments saw a 25% uptick.

Ho Chi Minh City health officials noted positive feedback regarding the facility’s operational efficiency. Key factors contributing to this success include minimized waiting times (averaging 10 minutes), the bilingual proficiency of the medical staff, and streamlined international insurance procedures. These improvements have made the hospital a preferred choice for tourists, expatriates, and overseas Vietnamese.

In terms of clinical expertise, the “two campuses, one standard” model enables Branch 2 to perform intermediate and advanced surgical procedures on-site. The implementation of an integrated stroke network ensures timely intervention during the “golden hour” before patients are transferred for intensive care. This restructuring aims to optimize bed capacity, alleviate pressure on the main campus, and establish the facility as a prominent medical hub in the Southern region.
