Facial cleanser recalled nationwide due to undeclared ingredients

Pharmaceutical authorities have issued a nationwide recall for a popular facial cleanser line after discovering that its actual formulation did not match the registered records.

Violations detected through laboratory testing The affected product is the Rice Milk Facial Cleanser (Batch number: 002; Manufacturing date: September 22, 2024), distributed by New Trend Pharmaceutical Cosmetics Co., Ltd. and manufactured by the branch of Phuc An Khang Pharmaceutical Cosmetics Co., Ltd.

Testing results from Lao Cai health authorities revealed that the samples contained two preservatives—Methylparaben and Propylparaben—which were not listed in the previously submitted ingredient profile. Additionally, the Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice raw material used in production contained additives that were not declared in the initial product notification file.

Regulatory actions and market context The Drug Administration of Vietnam has mandated:

  • An immediate cessation of sales and usage of the violating batch nationwide.

  • The involved companies must review all other production batches and report findings by early March 2026.

  • The substandard batch must be destroyed in accordance with regulations.

This move is part of an ongoing campaign by the Ministry of Health since early 2026 to tighten control over the cosmetic market and combat substandard goods. Just one day prior, the agency also recalled 131 cosmetic products from facilities that failed to meet mandatory production standards. As Vietnam’s cosmetic market grew to an estimated 2.4 billion USD in 2024, quality control has become a top priority to protect consumer interests.
