Health authorities in Ho Chi Minh City have announced a strategic plan to enhance the management of dental services to ensure patient safety amid rapid sectoral growth. With thousands of clinics currently operating, the performance of invasive procedures—such as implants, bone grafting, sinus lifts, and advanced prosthetics—now requires stricter supervision regarding professional expertise and facility standards.
Under the 2023 Law on Medical Examination and Treatment, facilities are no longer required to conduct pilot programs for techniques that are already established in Vietnam. However, regulators emphasized that simplified administrative procedures will be accompanied by rigorous post-market inspections and specialized training. This move aims to professionalize service quality and provide transparency for patients accessing modern dental care locally.
In addition to meeting domestic demand, Ho Chi Minh City is focusing on standardizing protocols to promote “dental tourism.” This sector holds significant potential for attracting international visitors due to competitive pricing and treatment quality that increasingly aligns with developed nations. Strengthening technical regulations is viewed as a vital step in safeguarding the city’s medical reputation within the regional dental tourism market.
