Strengthening high-tech healthcare links between Vietnam and the United Kingdom

From March 16 to 20, 2026, a high-level delegation from the Vietnamese Ministry of Health conducted a series of strategic meetings in the UK to promote cooperation in life sciences, pharmaceutical management, and healthcare infrastructure modernization.

Key areas of focus:

  • Ministerial Dialogue: Health officials from both nations discussed hospital network restructuring, digital transformation, and enhancing preventive medicine capacity. Both parties considered establishing a direct coordination mechanism between pharmaceutical regulatory authorities to optimize drug supply chains.

  • Research and Training Collaboration: At leading academic institutions such as Imperial College London and the University of Cambridge, the delegation focused on high-level human resource training, vaccine research, and biotechnology transfer.

  • Engagement with Enterprises and NGOs: Working with entities like AstraZeneca and the Wellcome Trust, the Vietnamese side sought solutions for sustainable health financing, the application of artificial intelligence in diagnostics, and the promotion of intellectual property protection for pharmaceuticals. Additionally, the organization “Facing The World” committed to continuing specialized training in craniofacial surgery for Vietnamese doctors.

The visit established a roadmap for implementing advanced operational models, aiming to build an equitable and innovative healthcare system in Vietnam.
