In an effort to tighten market control and protect public health, functional agencies in Quang Ninh province conducted a peak inspection period in March 2026. The results recorded dozens of cases subjected to disciplinary and financial penalties for violating food safety regulations.
Aggregated data from the interdisciplinary inspections show:
-
Scope of enforcement: A total of 66 entities (including both organizations and individuals) were administratively sanctioned, with total fines exceeding 390 million VND.
-
Common violations: Most cases involved food of untraceable origin, smuggled goods, and a lack of legal invoices or documents. Additionally, several food service establishments were found violating hygiene protocols, such as allowing insects into processing areas or failing to comply with initial food verification rules.
-
Typical cases: One individual trading in food of unknown origin received the highest fine of 90 million VND. Another case involving the illegal transport of goods was penalized with 70 million VND.
The Market Management and Customs forces played a key role in intercepting substandard shipments from entering the market. This decisive enforcement aims not only to deter irresponsible businesses but also to ensure a clean service and tourism environment in the locality.
Authorities also issued recommendations for consumers to increase vigilance, only use products with proper labeling, and actively report signs of violations to relevant hotlines.
