During a working session at Chợ Rẫy Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City, the Ministry of Health urged the acceleration of the Vietnam-Japan Friendship Hospital project (Chợ Rẫy Campus 2). With a capacity of 1,000 beds funded by Japanese ODA, the project is scheduled to commence construction within 2026 to alleviate the current hospital’s persistent overcrowding.
In addition to this project, the Ministry aims to launch the southern branch of the National Hospital of Endocrinology by the third quarter of 2026. These initiatives are part of a broader national strategy to refine legal frameworks and modernize medical infrastructure to provide comprehensive healthcare services.
Recent performance reports indicate that Chợ Rẫy Hospital managed over 1.6 million patient visits last year, conducting tens of thousands of complex surgeries. The institution is also making significant strides in digital transformation by implementing a “paperless hospital” ecosystem through electronic medical records, while maintaining its leadership in high-tech medical fields such as organ transplantation and cardiovascular intervention in the southern region.
