Duc Giang General Hospital Pioneers Emergency Medical Delivery Network via Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs)

A high-tech medical transport system using UAVs will be officially inaugurated in Hanoi on December 25, 2025, marking a milestone in integrating drone technology into emergency healthcare.

  • Speed Breakthrough: Field tests demonstrate that a UAV takes only 8 minutes to cover the 8km route between Duc Giang and Gia Lim Hospitals. This drastically bypasses road traffic congestion, providing a critical advantage for life-threatening cases like anaphylaxis or cardiac arrest.

  • Implementation Roadmap: For the first six months, the project will establish 10 flight paths within a 15km radius. Future plans include expanding across the Northern Red River region and potentially scaling nationwide.

  • Operational Protocol: Upon request, a Medical Coordination Center synchronizes the Pharmacy Department’s supplies with the flight operations team to ensure the fastest possible takeoff.

  • Safety Standards: Medical samples and supplies are protected by multi-layered specialized packaging (including cold chain storage and shock-resistant containers), strictly adhering to Ministry of Health bio-safety and temperature regulations.
