Groundbreaking of a 786-Billion VND High-Quality Medical Center at Thong Nhat Hospital

On December 19, Thong Nhat Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City officially broke ground on the High-Quality Care, Examination, and Treatment Center for Officials. This is a strategic move to modernize the healthcare system in Southern Vietnam and enhance service capacity for both high-ranking officials and the general public.

Scale and Strategic Location With a total investment of 786 billion VND, the project is situated at a prime location near the Bay Hien intersection—a major gateway connecting to Tan Son Nhat International Airport and future metro lines.

  • Architecture: A central building with 10 above-ground floors, 1 basement, and a specialized technical floor for particle accelerators. It also includes a 2-story underground parking garage.
  • Area: The total construction floor area exceeds 32,200 m².
  • Timeline: Completion and operational readiness are expected by 2027.

Professional Objectives Once operational, the center will perform specialized medical techniques as a Ministry of Health end-line facility. Beyond its specific mission of caring for senior officials, the project is expected to significantly improve the treatment environment and service quality for the city’s residents, matching its status as a major regional medical hub.

Boosting Healthcare Infrastructure Nationwide On the same day, the healthcare sector marked further progress in Northern Vietnam with the inauguration of the second campuses of Bach Mai Hospital and Viet Duc Friendship Hospital in Ha Nam (original text mentioned Ninh Binh). These are key national projects equipped with modern technology on par with advanced countries in the region, helping to alleviate overcrowding at central hospitals in Hanoi.
