Hanoi establishes multi-layered medical shield at international airport for 2026 Lunar New Year

In response to the surge in international travel during the holiday season, infectious disease control at Noi Bai International Airport has been elevated to the highest alert level. The campaign primarily aims to prevent the entry of dangerous pathogens, with a specific focus on the Nipah virus.

A modern defense system, featuring automated thermal scanners, has been activated to screen all arriving passengers. Authorities are prioritizing the epidemiological tracking of individuals from regions where outbreaks are currently active. On-site, specialized protocols for passenger flow, isolation, and medical transport have been prepared to eliminate the risk of cross-contamination within the terminal.

Notably, the capital’s healthcare sector is undergoing a significant shift toward digital communication. Traditional signage is being replaced by multilingual health advisories broadcasted on electronic screens. Logistics hubs have also stockpiled thousands of liters of disinfectants, protective gear, and spraying equipment, ready for immediate deployment in emergencies.

To date, Hanoi has reported no cases of Nipah virus or other emerging dangerous diseases. Local authorities have also instructed hospitals near the airport to audit their infectious disease departments to ensure seamless quarantine and treatment capabilities should any cases arise.
