Under a new restructuring plan, Nam Thang Long Hospital will be transformed into the Hanoi Geriatric Hospital, aiming to address the healthcare demands of an increasingly aging population.
Model transformation for practical needs
On March 12, leading experts in geriatrics conducted a field survey at the Phuc Ly facility to assess infrastructure and provide technical support for the establishment of the Hanoi Geriatric Hospital. This reorganization is more than a name change; it represents a comprehensive strategic upgrade of specialized treatment capacity for the elderly.
Nam Thang Long Hospital, established in 2006, is entering a breakthrough phase with the acquisition of modern facilities and direct support from national-level institutions. The transformation focuses on mastering geriatric-specific medical techniques, training specialized personnel, and developing treatment protocols tailored to the complex, multi-pathological needs of older patients.
Vision for the “Silver Economy” and Capital Healthcare
The creation of a municipal-level geriatric hospital is considered a strategic move to realize national policies on public health protection. It also aligns with the broader development of the “Silver Economy,” where elderly care serves as a foundation for social stability.
Hospital leadership expressed strong commitment to completing the project swiftly, turning the facility into a high-tech center for geriatrics. This initiative will help alleviate the burden on national-level hospitals while providing high-quality medical services directly to the residents of the capital.
