Ministry of Health Strengthens Leadership Across Key Departments

In a move to reinforce its organizational structure and enhance governance efficiency, the Ministry of Health has announced a series of high-level appointments within the Vietnam Food Administration (VFA) and other subsidiary units.

Leadership Transition at the Vietnam Food Administration The most significant change occurs within the leadership board of the VFA. Following the latest decision by Minister Dao Hong Lan, Mr. Bui Duc Lap – former Chief of Office at the Drug Administration of Vietnam – has been officially appointed as the Deputy Director General of the VFA for a five-year term.

The current leadership of the VFA now consists of:

  • Acting Director General: Dr. Chu Quoc Thinh (appointed in June 2024, also a veteran official from the Drug Administration).

  • Deputy Director Generals: Mr. Bui Duc Lap and one other official.

The strategic transition of experienced officials from pharmaceutical management to food safety is seen as a key step in tightening licensing procedures and quality control. This comes as the agency focuses on drafting the amended Law on Food Safety to combat the prevalence of counterfeit functional foods and milk.

Other Notable Appointments In addition to the VFA, leadership roles in other departments have also been filled:

  • Population Authority: Ms. Dang Quynh Thu (former Head of Population Scale and Family Planning) has been promoted to Deputy Director General.

  • National Medical Council: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Luong Mai Anh (Deputy Director General of the Administration of Science, Technology, and Training) has been designated as the Chief of Office for the Council.

These personnel adjustments reflect the Ministry’s commitment to stabilizing its workforce following previous organizational challenges, aiming for more transparent management and better public health protection.
