Standardizing gynecological endoscopy training according to international protocols

On January 15, an international workshop on gynecological endoscopic surgery training was held in Ho Chi Minh City. This event, a collaboration between Tu Du Hospital and the European Society for Gynaecological Endoscopy (ESGE), marks the introduction of the first European-standard training program in Vietnam.

Although endoscopic surgery has been practiced in Vietnam for nearly 36 years, previous training methods remained fragmented, largely dependent on individual experience, and lacked standardized certification. The new program focuses on systematizing expertise through virtual reality simulation and direct clinical supervision. This approach is expected to significantly reduce training duration while maintaining high surgical standards.

Currently, Tu Du Hospital performs between 11,000 and 13,000 endoscopic surgeries annually, accounting for 77% of its total surgical cases. Given its existing infrastructure and expertise in managing complex conditions such as gynecological cancers and pelvic endometriosis, the hospital aims to become a regional training hub. Implementing international standards not only enhances the professional capacity of medical staff but also ensures patients have access to safe, high-quality treatment, reducing the need for overseas medical travel.
