The Ministry of Health recently held a key meeting to discuss the implementation roadmap for the National Target Program on Health, Population, and Development for the 2026-2035 period. The core of this plan is to shift priority resources toward grassroots healthcare, ensuring that all citizens can access quality care starting from the commune and ward levels.
According to the report, 2026 will be a pivotal year for refining legal frameworks. Key focus areas include new regulations on professional allowances for public health workers, the standardization of national criteria for commune health centers, and a human resource assurance scheme through 2030. Notably, the project deploying young volunteer doctors to disadvantaged areas is gaining momentum, with over 500 specialists already stationed in remote and mountainous regions.
Ministry leaders have urged relevant departments to urgently review socio-economic norms, equipment lists, and essential medical service packages to align with the practical conditions of each locality. The ultimate goal is to build a robust grassroots healthcare system capable of disease control and primary care, effectively reducing the burden on central hospitals over the next decade.
