On April 25, 2026, the Southern representative office of the Vietnam Health Informatics Association was officially inaugurated in Ho Chi Minh City during the “Smart Hospital Connect 2026” forum. This initiative, a collaboration between the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health, the Association, and the Innovation Startup Center, aims to establish a robust network linking technology experts, regulators, and healthcare enterprises.
Representatives from the Association highlighted that building a professional community is essential to navigating the complexities of digital transformation, particularly given limited investment budgets and rising cybersecurity threats against hospital systems. The new office will serve as a hub for technical support, ensuring the stability and security of health-tech projects while expanding its membership to foster stronger professional collaboration.
From an innovation perspective, the launch of this representative office is expected to accelerate the transition of technological ideas into practical applications. Integrating advanced solutions—such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), telemedicine, and gene sequencing—into both public and private hospital sectors will enhance proactive healthcare capabilities. These efforts are part of a broader strategy to develop universal electronic “health passports” for the population.
