National Children’s Hospital inaugurates 300-bed second branch in Hanoi on International Children’s Day

On the morning of June 1, 2026, timed to coincide with International Children’s Day, the National Children’s Hospital officially hosted an opening ceremony to launch its Second Campus located in Kieu Phu Commune, Hanoi. Initiated in 2023, the macro healthcare project spans nearly 6 hectares with a total capital investment exceeding 880 billion VND. Following an intensive final preparation phase directly audited by the Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan, the new facility has secured all verified legal, professional, and human resource clearances to commence clinical operations, aiming to reduce overcrowding at the main campus and scale national pediatric capacities.

The operational parameters, clinical technologies, and specialized medical directives defining the new facility include:

  • Initial Operational Capacity: For its baseline phase, the Second Campus configures a 300-bed inpatient capacity, integrating 11 distinct clinical departments alongside comprehensive paraclinical and functional units. The facility is logistically structured to manage between 1,000 and 1,500 outpatient visits on a daily basis.

  • Smart Hospital Infrastructure: The medical complex is designed around a child-friendly, green, and smart hospital blueprint. From the reception perimeter, automated registration kiosks and cashless payment integrations have been deployed to minimize administrative waiting periods and optimize patient experience.

  • Advanced Intensive Care Technology: The campus features synchronized, world-class medical equipment tailored for advanced diagnostics and intensive emergency resuscitation. The technological framework includes Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) setups, continuous blood purification lines, one-way sterile operating suites, 3D laparoscopic surgical tools, and state-of-the-art imaging systems.

  • Targeted Pediatric Sub-specialties: Supplementing its 24-hour emergency services and generalized laboratory testing, the branch concentrates assets on high-demand pediatric segments. Specialized clinical concentrations prioritize Neonatology, Intensive Care, Respirology, Tropical Diseases, Oncology, Neurology, and Immunology – Allergy – Rheumatology.

Prof. Dr. Tran Minh Dien, Director of the National Children’s Hospital, confirmed that the assigned medical personnel — including doctors, nurses, and technicians — are systematically deployed within the hospital’s unified framework to guarantee absolute clinical quality and serving standards. The commercial launch marks a milestone in expanding equitable access to high-tech, safe, and modern healthcare for Vietnamese children.
