AstraZeneca scales up collaboration with Immunai for AI-driven immune profiling

AstraZeneca has confirmed an extension of its technical partnership with the biotech firm Immunai, committing up to $37.5 million in additional funding through 2027. The deal focuses on leveraging computational models to refine the development of oncology treatments over the next two years.

The collaboration utilizes Immunai’s proprietary AI platform, AMICA-OS, which maps the human immune system using high-resolution single-cell genomic data. By applying these AI foundation models, AstraZeneca aims to enhance its clinical decision-making processes. The technology will be applied to several key areas, including the identification of novel biomarkers, patient stratification, dosage calibration, and the analysis of pharmacological mechanisms.

This partnership originated in 2024 for cancer research and previously broadened in 2025 to include inflammatory bowel disease studies. The latest expansion reflects a strategic emphasis on integrating frontier AI solutions to improve clinical outcomes and streamline drug development pipelines.

Immunai, headquartered in New York with a workforce of over 170 experts, has secured nearly $270 million in funding to date. The company operates as a specialized infrastructure provider, offering machine-learning insights and massive clinical datasets to major pharmaceutical entities rather than functioning as a conventional drug manufacturer.
