On the morning of March 27, 2026, in Ho Chi Minh City, the Ministry of Health held a consultation workshop on the draft Advanced Quality Standards for Hospitals. This is a strategic move aimed at transforming the healthcare management model from process-oriented to result- and patient-experience-oriented, aligning with international benchmarks such as JCI (USA) or ACHS (Australia).
Key pillars of the new Standards:
-
Patient Safety as the “Soul”: The core axis of the standards is to minimize medical errors, manage risks, and ensure an absolutely safe treatment environment.
-
Data-Driven Governance: Moving away from formalistic reporting, digital data will become the foundation for all management decisions, driving substantive digital transformation within hospitals.
-
Tiered Standard System: The criteria are designed across three levels: Standard – Advanced – Excellent, focusing on three main functional groups: Clinical Care; Hospital Administration; and Specialty-specific Standards.
-
Patient-Centered Approach: Quality is measured not only by high-tech capabilities or facilities but also by the continuity of care and the professional responsibility of medical staff.
Implementation Roadmap: The set of standards is expected to be finalized and officially promulgated within 2026. It will serve as a pivotal tool for hospitals to enhance competitiveness, promote medical tourism, and build sustainable trust with both domestic and international patients.
